Zoë Halfacree

Zoë Halfacree is a small animal veterinarian at Davies Veterinary Specialists, and advocate for sustainability at Vet Sustain, the Greener Veterinary Practice working group. We’ve hosted plenty of webinars from Vet Sustain and they’ve always been a big hit. Zoë also continues to be involved in educating the new population of veterinarians in initiatives in environmental sustainability at The Royal Veterinary College. Louise Southwood

Louise Southwood

Louise Southwood will be presenting one of the highest amounts of lectures at Virtual Congress this year. After pursuing Large Animal internships, residencies, and PhD’s in the United States, Louise later became board certified in Large Animal Surgery and later Large Animal Critical Care. Louise has also recently edited two textbooks: Practical Guide to Equine Colic (Wiley-Blackwell, 2013) and Equine Emergency and Critical Care (Manson Publishing, 2014). Dr. Bernard Séguin

Small Animal Oncology

Dr. Bernard Séguin

Dr. Bernard Séguin completed a small animal internship, MSc, and residency across the United States. Currently the professor of veterinary surgical oncology in Colorado State University, he’s currently a diplomate of the ACVS and is also an ACVS Founding Fellow in Surgical Oncology, and an ACVS Founding Fellow in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Séguin is an incredible pioneer in his field, and well respected around the world. We’re looking forward to listening to his lectures this year at Virtual Congress! Dr. James Carpenter

Exotics Medicine

Dr. James Carpenter

Dr. James Carpenter, MS, DVM, Dipl. ACZM, is presenting 4 lectures on exotic species at this year’s Virtual Congress – all of which will be translated to Spanish. Dr. Carpenter has been the co-editor and editor of well recognised educational veterinary exotics-focused textbooks spanning back 26 years. As the past-president of the American Association of Zee Veterinarians, the Association of Avian Veterinarians, and the American College of Zoological Medicine, he is highly qualified! Dr. Carpenter was also awarded four awards over the past ten years recognising his work in the field. In 2013, the Veterinary Health Center (KSU College of Veterinary Medicine) named the new veterinary facility at Manhattan’s Sunset Zoo the “James W. Carpenter Clinic at Sunset Zoo”. Professor Derek Knottenbelt

Equine Medicine

Professor Derek Knottenbelt OBE

Prof. Derek Knottenbelt, after qualifying from Edinburgh later spent 12 years in mixed and equine practice. He later turned to specialisation in Equine Internal Medicine, finding his passion for equine medicine through this specialisation. In 2005 he was appointed OBE by the Queen for his services to equine medicine – he is the primary author of 10 recognised text books and over 90 refereed scientific papers. He has been awarded honorary life membership of ECEIM, BEVA, VWHA and ACVIM and received numerous awards through his career. He is actively involved in human and animal charity work, and a founding member of ‘Vets with Horsepower’. Ebony Escalona

Veterinary Inspiration & Support

Ebony Escalona is a recognisable name on Facebook as the Founder of the online support platform Vets: Stay, Go, Diversify. She is also the co-founder of VetYou which aims to support professionals in their financial future. As the recipient of the inaugural RCVS Inspiration Award and the University of Liverpool Alumni Award. Ebony is a GP vet, vetmed educator, speaker and mentor and focuses on unlocking peoples potential. You can find the lectures she is presenting at Virtual Congress this year at this link
