VC 2023 Webinar Review: “Why is this dog vomiting? Abdominal radiology of the dog and cat”
The webinar titled “Why is this dog vomiting? Abdominal radiology of the dog and cat” presented by Panagiotis (Pete) Mantis was an excellent learning opportunity for veterinarians hosted by The Webinar Vet for their 2023 Veterinary Congress. The session covered various topics related to abdominal radiology in dogs and cats and was well-organized and visually engaging.
Dr. Mantis began by introducing normal abdominal radiographic anatomy and basic reading techniques, providing useful tips for evaluating abdominal organs. He also shared examples of common abdominal abnormalities that can cause vomiting in dogs and explained how to identify them. This section served as an informative refresher for attendees, regardless of their level of expertise.
Throughout the webinar, Dr. Mantis provided detailed explanations and numerous radiographic images to illustrate different conditions. He discussed various abnormalities such as foreign bodies, gastrointestinal obstructions, and tumors, and how to differentiate them from other conditions.
Dr. Mantis is an expert in diagnostic imaging, with extensive experience in the field. He completed a Diagnostic Imaging Residency at the Royal Veterinary College and worked in first opinion practices and referral hospitals in London. He was appointed Head of Diagnostic Imaging in 2019 and is a European and RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
As a veterinarian, I found the information presented by Dr. Mantis to be practical and highly useful. I would highly recommend attending any future webinars he presents.
